Shepherd of the Hills is delighted to welcome, once again, our friends from Syrian Sweets Exchange! Local Syrian bakers will join us Sunday, November 3, 2019, to take holiday pre-orders for Christmas goodies. Our congregation will be invited to sample items, including baklava, mamool date-filled treats, and gluten-free bite-sized pieces before purchasing. Gift boxes ranged from $15 to $50. The ultimate goal is for these refugees to find employment in the baking industry or open home bakeries or other small businesses, and proceeds from this bake sale go directly to the families of the bakers to help them pay for living expenses. Thank you for showing your support and solidarity with Syrian members of our community through your purchases. Venues like ours help foster positive cross-cultural interactions and build understanding and friendship through home-baked sweets.
